EEG Biofeedback in the Czech Republic

EEG Biofeedback Institute of the Czech Republic and its Affiliate Network represents over 500 practitioners in 33 countries.

The first practice, EEG Biofeedback Clinical Research Laboratory, was established at Charles University 1st Medical School, by seminar of Dr. Sterman, in Prague. Since my training at EEG Spectrum in 1996 we have made EEG Biofeedback the fastest growing therapeutic modality here.

EEG Biofeedback Institute established its own system of the education and trained 500+ professionals from here and abroad. The education is accredited by an official Health Care Educational Institute. We have organized the four International Symposia on Neurofeedback efficacy in Prague, with Dr. Sterman's QEEG and Neurofeedback Training Course (170 professionals attended). Our seminar with Prof. Karl Pribram was run by Ministry of Education, gaining 100 attendees. Year 2000 opening symposium was devoted to Multi-modal Biofeedback (in February). EUROFEEDBACK 2000 Symposium series included several countries.

The first grant study for Czech Ministry of Health on 40 ADHD subjects succeeded in maturation/normalization of baseline EEG signal in 85% of subjects after training (available in English too). This research continues, having about 150 subjects with pre/post clinical EEGs in data-base now. The next two multi-subject studies, finished 1999, examined ADHD. Both of them comprised 30 NF-trained subjects and control groups, with QEEG and Wechsler Intelligence Scale as criteria. One of these studies was Czech Ministry of Education grant recommending NF for schools. In a smaller samples (8-10) subjects we proved NF efficacy in: Pre-school ADHD, Speech Disorders (Developmental Dysphasia, Aphasia), Cerebral Palsy.

We work with Czech developed Brainfeedback® System (2/4/20/24/32/64/128 channels, battery run, dual computer QEEG/Biofeedback integrated system). EEG Biofeedback Institute seeks to join the international community. We would like to join R&D projects in Neurofeedback and related methods.
